„Vossische Zeitung“ to Ullstein
At the beginning of January 1914, Berlin’s Ullstein Publishing Company takes over the venerable „Vossische Zeitung“. Founded in1704 as the „Berlinisch Ordinaire Zeitung“, the liberal paper could count among its editors such outstanding literati as Gotthold Ephraim Lessing and Theodor Fontane. In 1935, the National Socialists will forbid publication of the „Vossische Zeitung“.
