Willy Brandt joins the Socialist Workers’ Youth organization (SAJ) in 1929.
The next year he becomes a member of the Socialdemocratic Party of Germany (SPD). The many political actions, which Willy Brandt joined in his youthful years are sometimes difficult to reconcile with his responsibilities in school.
A school advisor, who is concerned over the future of his students, calls Willy Brandt’s mother to his office and warns her, ”keep your son away from politics. The boy has good aptitudes!”
Willy Brandt’s favorite subjects were German and History.
In 1932 he took his final examinations at the Lübeck Johanneum high school. He received highest marks (a ”one”) for his graduation thesis on August Bebel.
