Nobel Peace Prize to Albert Schweitzer
German medical missionary Albert Schweitzer is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on 10 December 1952 in Oslo. He os the first German after the Second World War to be accorded this distinction. Schweitzer merits this honour because of his medical activities in Africa: in 1913 he founded the Lambaréné Jungle Clinic in French Equatorial Africa – present-day Gabon.
