Hitler’s address to the leadership of the Wehrmacht

On 5 November 1937, at a top secret meeting of the highest echelons of Wehrmacht leadership, Adolf Hitler presents his principal foreign policy goals: They include, if necessary, the forcible annexation of Austria and Czechoslovakia. Some members of the General Staff express criticism concerning these plans, which most likely would result in a war throughout Europe. They believe the German Reich is not yet ready for a conflict of this magnitude.
