First issuance of food coupons in Berlin

Soon after the start of the war maximum prices had been set for staple foods. On 15 November 1915 in Berlin, food ration cards are issued for the first time. They will barely alleviate the catastrophic supply situation: Before the end of the year the capital city will experience its first „hunger riots“.
