Encyclical „With Passionate Concern“

In spite of the Reich Concordat of 1933 – an agreement between the Vatican and the government of the German Reich, in which the Catholic Church in Germany was guaranteed its independence from government influence – the Church feels subjected to increasing pressure by the National Socialists. In the encyclical „With Passionate Concern“, issued on 14 March 1937, Pope Pius XI. objects publicly to this deplorable state of affairs.
