Struktur
An association of European states, established in 1949, whose representatives include the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, and Ireland. It has a Committee of Foreign Ministers and a representative Consultative Assembly which meets at Straßbourg to discuss matters of common concern, but which may only offer recommendations to ministers. A European Court of Human Rights was later added to this structure. There were 39 members in 1997.
