Battle of the Nations Monument

On October 18th Kaiser Wilhelm II dedicates the „Völkerschlachtdenkmal“ in Leipzig. This 275 ft. high monument – completely financed by donations and lotteries – was erected in remembrance of the „Battle of the Nations“. In 1813 the troops of Prussia, Austria and Russia vanquished the French led by Emperor Napoleon.
